Shael began his journey in theatre at the age of 10 with his early education at the Leah Posluns Theatre School, where he worked with some of the Canada’s most esteemed theatre professionals such as Rose Dubin, Lewis Baumander, and Tom Diamond.
Shael has been nominated for multiple Thea Awards, and won in 2019 for his remarkable performance as IRA DREW in the play “It’s Only a Play.” His portrayal of the character was widely praised by both the audience and the critics. Risman has also directed the critically acclaimed “Next to Normal.” At Whitby Courthouse Theatre.
Shael is highly regarded in the community theatre scene, not only for his talents as an actor and director but also for his work ethic and professionalism. He is known for being “an actor’s director” for his attention to detail and for his ability to get the best out of his actors, whether he is directing or performing.
