PLAYWRIGHT: Robert More and Tom Doyle
DIRECTOR: Cheryl Atwood
PRODUCER: Laurie Jess
PLOT:
Dads by Robert More and Tom Doyle is a character-driven comedy that brings together a group of fathers in a waiting room as they await the arrival of their children. What begins as casual small talk quickly evolves into a series of candid, often hilarious conversations about parenting, relationships, and the realities of being a dad. Each man represents a different approach to fatherhood—ranging from confident and seasoned to nervous and completely out of his depth.
As time passes, the humour gives way to more honest and revealing exchanges, exposing insecurities, generational differences, and the pressures men feel to live up to the role. Through shared stories and unexpected moments of connection, the group begins to shed their defenses, finding common ground in their hopes, fears, and love for their children. The play ultimately balances comedy with sincerity, offering a relatable and touching portrait of modern fatherhood and the bonds that form when men are willing to open up.
