PLOT: 

Rumors by Neil Simon is a fast-paced farce that begins with a high-society dinner party gone spectacularly wrong. Guests arrive at the elegant home of New York’s deputy mayor, Charlie Brock, only to discover that Charlie has apparently shot himself (though not fatally) and his wife is nowhere to be found. With no clear explanation and the rest of the guests about to arrive, the first couple on the scene panics and concocts a series of increasingly absurd lies to avoid scandal.

As more guests enter, each bringing their own anxieties, assumptions, and misunderstandings, the web of deception spirals wildly out of control. Doors slam, stories clash, and confusion reigns as everyone struggles to maintain appearances while having no idea what’s actually going on. By the end, the truth is both simpler and more ridiculous than anyone imagined, and the evening becomes a hilarious commentary on social status, reputation, and the lengths people will go to avoid embarrassment.
